We are currently accepting resumes for the position of a Senior Payroll Administrator based out of the Calgary office. 

Summary of Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for the payroll processing of employees, as well as preparing and processing of accounts payable.

Roles and Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Collect, compile and enter payroll data, including payroll data entry, review of payroll, remittances and reporting
  • Process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
  • Issue statements of earnings and deductions
  • Address employee's pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information
  • Ensure that complete employee payroll files are maintained and comply with privacy policies
  • Create and review electronic time tickets to ensure they are accurately entered for importing into payroll system
  • Reconcile time according to labor standards as well as site specific regulations
  • Review payroll activities prepared by team members for accuracy, completeness and alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and building trade union agreements.
  • Reconcile account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations.
  • Research discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
  • Compile data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. time sheets/payroll, salary adjustments, tax deposits, etc.) for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with mandated requirements, and/or monitoring program components.
  • Processing and issuing of T4's and Records of Employment
  • Monitor Employee Personal Use of Company Vehicles and process resulting benefits for tax purposes
  • Process Employee Expense Claims
  • Track vacation time and sick leave
  • Review and reconcile GL accounts

Qualifications

  • Team player and committed to safety and quality
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role preferred processing full cycle payroll
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet
  • Previous experience in the oilfield services industry an asset
  • PCP designation preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, internal controls, and management.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll guidelines
  • Knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Experience in managing the processing of salaries, bonuses, union remittances, and benefits.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in preparing and entering financial and payroll information
